The semi detached ex-council house in Heol-Kier Hardie was in need of a complete renovation.
Good points were that it had uPVC double glazing throughout and a very recent kitchen which was a BIG saving.

Last Update: 10 Dec 2006
The former owners had reduced the size of the window as this used to be a second sitting room. The brickwork had to be redone as it wasn't interlaced. Once done and plastered I tiled the surrounds, which looked good.
The kitchen was already fitted and just needed new tiles to the splashbacks. The units were oak and in very good condition. The ceiling was also replastered and repainted.
One of the biggest jobs was to remove ALL of the old wallpaper and take it back to the original plaster and repaint. Once done and painted in the 'great' magnolia looked excellent.
The staircase was once of the longest jobs. The complete bannister and walls were repainted to the original white colour.
The new lounge once finished looked excellent.
A new gas-fired fireplace was added along with a wooden surround and man-made marble hearth and backplate.
The original back burner heating system was removed and a new combi system fitted.
The original lounge was very outdated. The back boiler and old hazardous gas fire had to be replaced. All the walls had the wallpaper removed back to the original plaster and repainted.
This is the new 2nd reception room converted from the old kitchen. I converted this to a second reception room/office. The original cabinets, sink tiles etc. were all replaced with a radiator, wooden flooring and simple cornicing.
This was the original kitchen which was in a really terrible state.

The new second reception room looked bright with new lighting, walls and coving.
The new bathroom was completely overhauled. A new suite with main shower was added and the majority of the walls were tiled in simple but clean white tiles.
The original bathroom had a huge corner bath which didn't fit. The tiles had been removed and the walls and floor were in a poor state.

A new mains powered thermostatic shower was added.
The new main bedroom had all the wallpaper painted and looked neat. I added a new carpet here to match the lounge carpet. Simple cornice was also added to the ceiling.
The original colours were vivid to say the least! All doors in the property were removed and replaced with new white ones.
The new third bedroom was cleaned up and new flooring added.
The original third bedroom had some renovation already started but not completed. All walls had to be prepared which was a lengthy process.
