Träskby
This is the current state of the Träskby house building project.
The main additions in 2006 have been porches, sauna, bathroom, lower balcony terrace, front door porche,
cold closed balcony and cleaned up surrounding garden area.

Last Update: 01 Jan 2007
Dec 2006. The back balcony had railings and sliding glass added in March 2006. This stops rain and wind but can still be pretty cold in the winter. The windows below are the sauna.
The current state of the house as of December 2006. The lower balcony has been added and the smaller porch roof.
The large porch roof was added in 2006. It was increased to fully reach the balcony. Basic wood structure with supporting wood columns and metal bars sunk and glued into the walls. Dec 2006. The side porch was built in Summer 2006. Still need steps and outside tiles on the base. Also the whole house requires the base plastered in grey (granite effect) waterproof paint.
The outside lights have been added. There are infra-red ones above the doors and switched ones above the balcony area. Some lights in the photo have not yet been connected.
2006. The prorch has been added. Wood has to be added to finish it off and a small gutter and drain added too. White tin will be added to the balcony as a sill for rain etc.
2006. The first sauna seats were made from alder wood and should last several years. 4 more structures will also be made. The white circle behind is a speaker not air vent!
Balcony glass was added in Jan 2006 to the front balcony. You can just make out the lake. We will probably tile the balcony surface.
August 2004. Small sunbathing terrace made next to the house.
July 2004. The Lounge windows were a change to the design - good in the Winter VERY bright in the Summer.
2004. Dining Room.
2004. The Fireplace Room. Tiled with small Nunnauuni fireplace which has a large hot surface for cooking if required. The door leads to the room which holds the air-con, land-heating, central vacuuming and TV/Sat/Net units.
2003. Master Bedroom.
The Kitchen bar area. The surfaces are heat varnished solid cherry wood and granite.
The Kitchen is nearly completed. The small glass tiles might be replaced in 2007 (one of the first changes!) but we'll see.
The doors are stained beech.
Oct 2004. Main house structure rendered. No glass as yet and no lower balcony terrace. Looks better than the grey box!
Main structure is complete (2004). The exterior is Siporex with no exterior rendering (and colour) as yet. The door will be changed to a teak one at some point and glass and wood added to the balcony supports. Note the snowmen !
Sept 2003. Interior plastering has been done. The floor has the layer of cement covering the underfloor heating, electricity/IT/TV cables. Ladders lead to the loft space on one half of the house.

August 2002. Balcony done. Breeze block supports in place and temporary wooden supports removed. :-)

August 2002 Roof tiles on, windows in and it still looks like a square grey box!
June 2002. The structure is nearly ready. Note that the roof is solid Siporex which is good and bad; insulation wise very good, adding holes through the roof (aerial, vents etc.) difficult. Balcony cement structures started.
The wooden part of the roof has been completed, just need to add tiles. Still no windows.
