Träskby Garage
This is the current state of the Träskby garage building project
.
The main components were; ground preparation, base work, structure, roof structure, roof, windproof walls,
external wall panels, garage doors, internal walls, insulation. The garage should be complete sometime 2007.

Last Update: 01 Jan 2007
The snow stoppers for the car doors have been added along with the gravel entrance driveway. Eventually this will be cemented for strength. The silver birch tree may have to be removed at some point unless I can always angle my way in! The first coat of paint has been applied (well to 95% of the exterior). Snow has just appeared so it can't be continued until the weather gets above 5 degs.
The internal wall between the car spaces and the storage area was built in December 2006. I used the remaining 20cm Siporex and 20cm Breeze blocks from the house, to build it.
The walls which are made using prepainted tongue-and-groove 20mm panels, have been added to the structure. The green material is wind boards to add wind resistance to the main structure.
The interior is starting to take shape. It will basically be a single room for storage and/or games room. The boards are strong tongue-and-groove attic boards. A staircase made of wood and metal steps, will be at the end on the right.
The easiest way to add a roof was to use tile-shaped tin roof panels which were about 4.5m long by 1.5 m wide. The garage required 9 on each side and it was good exercise!

The wind boards are nearly all done. The roof tin supports have all been done and ready for the tin.
Ready for the cement. Added the wire netting and separators and a small drain.
All cement in place. A nice sqare plate ready for constructing the wooden garage!

The wooden support for the concrete was added and gravel placed inside for support. This was compacted and less placed around the edges so the cement would be thicker.
2nd layer of gravel compacted and the polystyrene layer was added to the top. Steel netting was then added before the concrete was laid.
More gravel which has to be compacted. The hidden ditches and rainwater gutter drains were also added.
Me in the toy, adding ground moving driveway gravel and garage gravel. The sheet stops grass and weeds growing and stops the smaller driveway gravel from disappearing !
That's me compacting the gravel ready for the next layer before the polystyrene and cement.
Starting the garage base in December 2005. The topsoil was cleared and a large amount of gravel which would later be compacted was the start of the base. The topsoil was moved to the adjacent part of the land. You can just see to the left hand side, where the ground cover cover was placed before the gravel to stop sinkage.
